Toronto, ON (September 18, 2017) – The Toyo Tires F1600 Series Championship finished up an amazing season at the BEMC Indian Summer Trophy Races at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park this past weekend
An exciting first race of the weekend as the top three swapped places frequently throughout the race. Only five tenths separated first to third as they crossed the finish line.
Race two of the weekend was a nail biter with the top three cars frequently swapping spots. Ben Hurst came out on top followed by Shane Jantzi. B class winner was a repeat for Craig Willis with James Lindsay taking his first second place finish of the season.
It was great to have Al Craighead’s wife,Denise and Jim his father, on hand Saturday afternoon to present the Memoriall Al Craighead Can-Am Cup to race winner Shane Jantzi. This was Shane’s sixth time winning this special award.
Craig Willis earned the B Class Can-Am Cup for reaching the top step of the B Class podium.
Competitor Ross Smith won the Wayne Gretzky Estates Winery & Distillery Masters Hard Charger Award for his efforts in Race 1.
With Race 3, the 2017 Toyo Tires Canada F1600 Championship Series had come to an end. The last race of the weekend and year was thrilling with nine lead changes in 15 laps. Every lap had two of the three cars going side by side through turn eight. B Class and overall winner Craig Willis came out on top of the three car battle. Close behind with only six tenths of a second separating first to third were Ben Hurst and Shane Jantzi. Rounding out the A Class podium was Danby Crowder. Finishing second and third in B Class were James Lindsay and Steve Bodrug.
