Toronto, ON (June 19, 2017) – It was a great F1600 turnout at the VARAC Vintage Grand Prix over the weekend as 28 cars took to the track at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.

Torrential rain, wicked winds and high humidity tested the talents of all on hand as the Toyo Tires Ontario Championship combined with the F1600 Super Series for a trio of races. 2016 Team Canada Scholarship winner Parker Thompson was on hand after a weekend of racing at the Canadian Grand Prix, and the Exclusive Autosport shoe swept the ‘A’ Class to take a commanding lead in the Super Series point tally

Craig Willis did the same in ‘B’ Class, and one-upped the modern mechanical marvels as he dominated the entire field on Saturday in the family’s 27-year-old Aero designed, built and previously raced by both his father and uncle! Congratulations to them, and to Ben Hurst, Misha Goik, Roman De Angelis Racing – all of BGR Racing, Graham Lobban, David Graham, Shane Jantzi, and Steve Bodrug, who also made appearances on the podium over the weekend.

Next up for the Toyo Tires F1600 Championship is Event 3 at Shannonville Motorsport Park July 8th and 9th. We hope to see you there!

Big thanks to our sponsors Toyo Tires Canada, FEL – Automotive Learning + Promotion, MK Technologies and Wayne Gretzky Estates Winery & Distillery
